On July 21, the Qishan Campus of Fujian Normal University (FJNU) hosted the AI+ Cultural Communication Symposium, co-organized by FJNU, Shih Hsin University (Taiwan, China), Communication University of China, Putian University, Fujian Media Group, and the City University of Macau. The event brought together prominent attendees including Prof. Yang Shengyu, Vice President of Shih Hsin University; Mr. Chen Jiawei, Vice Chairman of Fujian Media Group; and Prof. Chen Xiaohong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of FJNU, along with over 40 experts and scholars from the participating institutions.

The symposium facilitated in-depth discussions on several key topics, such as establishing a leading academic hub for cross-Strait cultural communication research, promoting the digital and intelligent transformation of cultural dissemination, and exploring innovative models for youth exchanges across the strait. Scholars provided valuable insights and constructive recommendations for the development of the Joint Institute for Cross-Strait Cultural Communication (JICSCC), which was founded last year.

In her closing address, Prof. Chen Xiaohong highlighted that the Institute reflects the member institutions’ deep respect for Chinese cultural heritage and their shared aspiration for meaningful, heart-to-heart connections across the Strait. She called for collaborative efforts to preserve the roots of Chinese culture through academic initiatives in the AI era, thereby strengthening the foundation for integrated cross-Strait development and contributing meaningfully to this shared vision.

The meeting also marked the election of the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the JICSCC Governing Council, followed by the appointment of advisors and members to the Institute’s Academic Committee. The City University of Macau was formally admitted as a member of the Joint Institute through a voting process. Additionally, the assembly reviewed and approved the list of members for the Institute’s Management Committee.
